Launching social media during a pandemic
The Commons Project is an organization dedicated to creating digital infrastructure for the common good. One of their pivotal projects, CommonPass, serves as a trusted platform enabling individuals to document their COVID-19 status, essential for meeting country entry requirements during the pandemic.
In 2020, The Commons Project recognized the necessity of establishing a robust presence on social media platforms to effectively communicate the value and functionality of CommonPass. However, they faced several challenges:
We were brought on and quickly got started with social media, devising a strategy in parallel.
Step 1: Launching social media channels Strong Contents partnered with The Commons Project to establish official social media channels for CommonPass across Twitter and LinkedIn, providing a platform to engage with their audience directly.
Step 2: Content creation and promotion Working closely with a designer, we developed a weekly content calendar comprising engaging posts and visual assets. This content highlighted the features of CommonPass, promoted relevant articles, media mentions, and fostered stakeholder engagement within the community. Our strategy focused on building brand awareness and positioning The Commons Project as a thought leader in secure travel frameworks amid the pandemic.
Step 3: Strategy development We devised a clear social media strategy tailored to The Commons Project’s objectives, ensuring consistency in messaging and brand voice across all platforms. This included guidelines for content creation, audience targeting, and performance tracking.
